Dear Colleagues,
Advanced and seamless technology is a cornerstone of our quest to lead the biomedical revolution and achieve our Precision Health vision. It is also a key driver of the Stanford Medicine Integrated Strategic Plan. That’s why we’re excited today to provide an update on our efforts to unify information technology resources across the School of Medicine and Stanford Health Care to provide you with the most innovative and efficient technology services.
Effective today, September 17, the School of Medicine Information Resources and Technology (IRT) team and the Stanford Health Care Information Technology (IT) team have come together to form Stanford Medicine Technology and Digital Solutions (TDS). Led by Eric Yablonka, CIO, and Michael Halaas, deputy CIO, the newly unified organization brings together the best of the School of Medicine and Stanford Health Care IT to enable new opportunities for groundbreaking research and compassionate care. You can learn more about the unified Technology and Digital Solutions team on their website.
It will take time for the IT teams to fully integrate all operations. In the interim, technology systems, support contacts, and infrastructure will remain the same, and you should continue to use technology services as you usually would.
In the months ahead, the Technology and Digital Solutions team looks forward to addressing important areas of opportunity such as:
- Improved IT support services with a single point of contact and more rapid client response times
- Unified communication and collaboration services, broader analytics capabilities, and enterprise-wide platforms for web tools and services
- Novel methods for more easily sharing research, clinical, and training data
- New IT approaches to translating technology-based innovations from research into clinical practice
While it will take time to fully realize our vision, we appreciate the significant efforts of the Technology and Digital Solutions team members to facilitate this unification, and we look forward to providing frequent updates as we approach milestones that will improve IT support for the enterprise.
Removing historical barriers to clinical, teaching, and research collaboration, the IT unification enables significant opportunities for our organizations, the science we lead, and the patients we serve. While the unification does not include Stanford Children’s Health, it will allow us to partner with our colleagues there in a more efficient manner.
Please join us in thanking the Technology and Digital Solutions team for the outstanding work they do and their commitment to our mission. Creating a unified IT team for the School of Medicine and Stanford Health Care is the beginning of an exciting, transformative journey, and we look forward to working together to drive continued technology improvements for the Stanford Medicine community.
Sincerely,
