Welcome Tanja Gruber

August 12, 2020 - SCI Communications

It is with great pleasure to welcome Dr. Tanja Gruber, MD, PhD in her roles as Chief of the Division of Hematology, Oncology, Stem Cell Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics; Associate Director for Childhood Cancer in the Stanford Cancer Institute at the Stanford University School of Medicine; and Director of the Bass Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Diseases at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.

Dr. Gruber is widely recognized as a visionary leader, tremendously collaborative physician-scientist, generous mentor, and compassionate oncologist. She comes to us from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital where she conducted ground breaking research on acute lymphoblastic leukemia and subsequently led a national clinical trial based on her discoveries.

We owe a profound debt of gratitude to Drs. Christy Sandborg and Robbie Parkman for their outstanding leadership as interim Chiefs. We look forward to a future opportunity where we can come together to celebrate Tanja’s arrival and express our deep gratitude to Christy and Robbie for their service and dedication.
