800 and 777 Welch Office Coffee: Reusable K-Cup Transition

March 21, 2019 - SCI Communications

The CCTO is transitioning to a reusable K-Cup coffee system to replace the disposable K-Cups. We have gone through almost all of our disposable K-Cups with the exception of decaf coffee, thus the transition will begin next week.

This change will affect the following locations:

  • 800 Welch Road, 2nd and 3rd Floors
  • 777 Welch Road, Suite J

As a note, monitor room FC163 and 777 Welch Suite G will continue to utilize disposable k-cups due to not having a kitchen space to clean reusable supplies.

Supplies that will be provided starting the week of March 25:

  • 3 types of pre-ground coffee (dark, light, and decaf) for each location stored in air-tight containers
  • 2 pre-measured hand scoops for 800 Welch, 2nd floor
  • 2 pre-measured hand scoops for 800 Welch, 3rd floor
  • 2 pre-measured hand scoops for 777 Welch, Suite J
  • 4 reusable k-cups for 800 Welch, 2nd floor
  • 4 reusable k-cups for 800 Welch, 3rd floor
  • 4 reusable k-cups for 777 Welch, Suite J

Instructions:

  1. Use hand scoop to measure out coffee
    1. Flip the funnel piece upward and back to only fill the 2 Tablespoon scoop-shaped area
  • Pour measured coffee via scoop funnel into reusable k-cup
  • Close reusable k-cup
  • Press firmly into Keurig Machine (tested and approved for both floors)
    • Important for 3rd Floor: make sure the reusable k-cup is *flush* within the K-cup holder before you try to close the lid, otherwise it won’t close (it takes a firm press)
  • Brew coffee as normal
  • Remove reusable k-cup after brewing
  • Compost grounds in compost bin
  • Rinse/wash off any excess grounds
  • Wipe dry and return to storage location

If you have any questions or experience problems when using these items, please let a CCTO admin team member know.

Thank you!
