CCTO Lab Coat Washing Instructions

March 23, 2018 - SCI Communications

Great news! If you have a lab coat and your CRG doesn’t have a specific place to wash it, there is now a way to have it washed in the Cancer Center! Please read the instructions below carefully. If you have any questions, please contact Amanda Sullivan at 650-721-4086 or amanda08@stanford.edu.

For instructions, keep on reading.

Prep Your Lab Coat:

  • LABEL your lab coat in permanent marker with:
    • Your name (if it’s not already embroidered on the jacket itself)
      • If it’s a temporary or borrowed lab coat and you don’t want your name on it, you must figure out a way to demarcate it from other lab coats in the closet for when you pick it up.
  • Write the number 1656 clearly on the collar or tag – this number must be visible to cleaners to ensure the lab coat returns to the same closet.

Location of lab coat cleaning closet:

  • Cancer Center, second floor, CC-2208.
  • Closet has sign on it that says “Cancer Center Lab Coat.”

Drop-Off and Pick-Up:

  • Dirty lab coats are picked up from the closet on Tuesdays (unless otherwise noted on door sign).
    • There is a hamper to put your dirty lab coat in (underneath the clean, hanging coats).
  • Clean lab coats are usually returned to the closet (hung on a hanger) one week later, though sometimes it can take up to two weeks.
    • Set a REMINDER on your own calendar TO PICK UP YOUR OWN LAB COAT!
  • You’ll need to plan for a few weeks without your lab coat. Additional lab coats are available for check-out at 800 Welch Road, FC309.
    • A sign-out sheet is on top of the labs coats in FC309 – please fill it out before taking the lab coat with the date, your name and lab coat size.
    • You can have a maximum of two lab coats checked out at a time.
