CCTO staff, please review the below reminder about building security.
1070 Arastradero:
Although 1070 Arastradero is open to the general public due to the downstairs sandwich shop, you should still be aware of anyone who is walking around on the 3rd floor and in common areas who looks like they do not belong there. If this is the case, and if you feel safe, please ask if they need assistance.
For help finding a certain group/person/room, you can contact Dana Waller who works at the front of the building at 650-723-6254. If safety is a concern you can call Stanford Security at 650-723-9633.
800 Welch Road:
There have been many instances when individuals without a building badge and who were not being properly accompanied by a staff member accessed the 2nd/3rd floors of 800 Welch Road. This is a secure building and we need to be mindful of safety as well as privacy issues. Staff are reminded not to let anyone upstairs who is not escorted or a known staff/faculty member.
For more information, keep on reading.
Please be aware of individuals who might attempt to come into the building (after/before the clinic hours) or step on to the elevator as you are exiting or with you; there have been cases where people without badge access will get on to the elevator and then wait for someone on the 2nd/3rd floor to push the call button so that they can come upstairs without calling someone to come down to let them up/accompany them. Even if someone is a routine vendor (e.g. FedEx, UPS, DataSafe, etc.) they should be calling upstairs to whomever they are meeting or to one of the administrative staff who should go downstairs to meet them.
Please also be aware of individuals who knock on the side doors from the stairwell/patio areas and ask them who they are here to see or bring them to an admin. Staff who have forgotten their badge should try to refrain from knocking on these side doors so they do not disrupt staff and instead use the first floor phone to call one of the admins to be let upstairs.
If you are suspicious of someone who seems not to belong or looks lost/unsure, and if you feel safe to speak with them, ask if they need assistance. If they are looking for a specific staff member, ask them to wait outside/downstairs while you contact the staff member being requested. Please stay with the unknown party until the situation is resolved or immediately find an admin. who can escort them to the appropriate place/back outside. If it is after hours for the building or if you sense a safety concern, please call Stanford Security at 3-9633.
Doors to the outside are at no point to be propped open. If you find something in the doorway, please remove it and let a supervisor know. If you are trying to prop the door open because you’ve forgotten your badge for the day, please do not do this as it creates a security risk. Instead, either have someone who knows you are a staff member let you in or simply go to the delivery phone on the first floor hallway by the back door near the monitor room and call any of the admin. listed to come down and let you back upstairs.
Thank you for your help in keeping our buildings, staff and records safe and secure.
